Fridays were meant for photos, and who doesn’t love a good photo of a bunch of beautiful flowers?

Considering next week is going to be all about Bali and August is going to be almost solely dedicated to Africa, I had to squeeze just a little bit of Oki in to the mix.

A few weeks ago, two of my blogging buddies and I headed out to this beautiful sunflower field in Yomitan to try to capture one of the sunsets that were being posted on every shutterbug site in Okinawa. Unfortunately, that night we didn’t get the sunset we’d been hoping for, but the flowers certainly didn’t disappoint.

I had no idea when I went to our first meet up what a different world blogging would open up to me. I’m so grateful to have met these girls who inspire me to be a better photographer, a better blogger, even a better person.

If you get a chance this week, visit Hannah over at Fun Flying Four and Erin at Makeshift Gypsies. Who knows what they will inspire you to do :)

You can find this amazing sunflower field in Yomitan. We shot this field in late summer and some of these sunflowers were towering over me! Just copy and paste these coordinates into your google maps:

26°23’45.7″N 127°44’00.8″E

Don’t have googlemaps? The field is right behind Okinawa Christian School International.

Hi, I chanced upon your blog when I was doing research on my upcoming trip to Okinawa in mid-June. Any idea whether this sunflower field is still around? Thank you!

Hey there! It is- but it’s not in bloom yet. I will update here as soon as it starts blooming!

Meet Mindy

In 2013, I quit my job and bought a one-way ticket to Thailand. After four months of backpacking I returned to the States and fell in love with a guy whose job sent us straight back to Asia. Nothing has gone according to plan... and it's been absolutely magical.
