June, 2012 | Maternity Photos | Smith Family
I started taking pictures because of this family. Leanna is one of my closest friends and for the past three years, her daughter Madelyn has been my camera’s favorite subject. I still remember the day we were pushing the stroller through the mall, talking about photography and how expensive portraits are, when I looked at her and confidently declared, (Mindy’s famous last words) “I could do that.”
When we found out a new little one was joining the family, we started planning the maternity session before there was even a belly to photograph. We took these pictures after Leanna had already been on bed rest for about 6 weeks and still had 3 months to go. My poor, little, mommy friend! But, now I know that if anyone can rock bed rest and still look hot… it’s Leanna. We made the shoot quick and had her back in bed in no time at all. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.
Could there be a teeny tinier little maternity model in all the world?!? It blows me away that anyone can look this good this pregnant!
A lot of our poses had to incorporate Leanna sitting or lounging, because the doctor had ordered bed rest. Luckily, Leanna is a nurse, so we taught Madelyn how to make sure the baby (and his mama) were in good condition all day!
And although I knew the bump was the star of the day… I just couldn’t resist all of the other little details this mama put together: That romper! Those boots! Ahhhh! Nor could I keep my camera off of sweet Madelyn who is getting more beautiful every day.
I will NEVER get tired of taking pictures of this little beauty and those big blue eyes!
In 2013, I quit my job and bought a one-way ticket to Thailand. After four months of backpacking I returned to the States and fell in love with a guy whose job sent us straight back to Asia. Nothing has gone according to plan... and it's been absolutely magical.
